This is a simple spalted beech bowl, which measures 180mm x 90mm, finished with lemon oil

Spalted Beech Hollow Form

Continuing with the hollow forms, this one is 170mm x 80mm, buffed and polished on the lathe

Spalted Sycamore Hollow Form

Made from spalted sycamore, which measures 170mm x 95mm, hollowed through a small opening.

Lidded box/urn

This is lidded box/urn, made from Sycamore with a spalted beech and ebony finial, inspiration again taken from a Mark Sanger piece which in turn wad inspired by a 2000yr old box

Spalted Beech Bowl

 

This is a Spalted Beech Bowl, which has added simple beads in the rim, it measures 220mm x 40mm .  It has been commented that the bowl paints a picture of a landscape due to the spalting within the timber.

Sycamore platter

This platter has been spiral embellished with sorby spiralling tool, and then beads added whoch have been burnt

Made from elm, coloured with chestnut spirit stains

Made from beech with an african blackwood finial

Burr Oak Platter

Platter made from burr oak, with added detail on the rim.

Burr Elm Fruit Bowl

As the title suggests, this bowl is made from Elm, all it requires is the fruit

Elm Tall Bowl

Mad from Elm, which was a leftover piece from a hollow form, the spots ate from exotic woods, which have been inserted for decoration

This shallow bowl is made from Sycamore, measures 280mm x 30mm. Dragon pyrographed, and inspired by a drawing by Lora Irish.

Beech Platter

Continuing the platters, this one is made from beech, measuring 280mm x 25mm.

Eccentric Turnings

These are made from beech which has been ebonised. Then a Holly ball added for decoration.

Burr/Pippy Oak Clock

Today i thought i would turn something completely different.  Made from burr/pippy oak. 

Coloured Ash Bowl

Ash bowl, 290mm x 40mm. Coloured with Blue, Red and Yellow Spirit stains,  highlighted with gold spirit stain

Wide rimmed Sycamore Bowl

Wide rimmed sycamore bowl, coloured with Violet, with hints of Gold & Red Jo Sonja paints. Measures 225mm x 40mm

Long stemmed Goblets

These are four long stemmed goblets. All the stems are made from Holly, which is turned to 4mm diameter at the thinnest, the heads are made from various woods, such as padauk, sonokling, purpleheart and cherry. They range from 12.5" to 9.5" tall. These were inspired by Alan Carter a highly acclaimed american woodturner. 

I will be demonstrating how to make these Goblets for the Highland Woodturners on the 13th June 2013 at their venue in Munlochy on the Black Isle, near Inverness.

Made from Black Walnut, locally sourced. Beautiful timber to turn.

Dragon Hollow Form

Dragon hollow form, made from Brown Sycamore. Initially made for a competition piece for my local woodtirning club. It is a pyrogaphed pattern, then coloured with black spirit stains, then Verdigri wax added to highlight the pattern.

Inspired by Nick Arnull, from 2005 article in the AWGB magazine, made from slightly spalted Sycamore, with a laburnam collar
